What a restroom trailer is
A restroom trailer, which customers also call a bathroom trailer or a mobile bathroom, is a towed unit with separate lockable stalls, flushing porcelain, running water at real sinks, lighting, and usually heating and air conditioning. The trade sells them as luxury restroom trailers, and for once the marketing word is accurate: the interior reads as a real bathroom, which is the whole point. It arrives on a hitch, needs somewhere level to sit, and is a different product from a portable toilet rather than a better one.
Who rents restroom trailers
Weddings, VIP and corporate hospitality, film crews, and long deployments where people are living on site. Also the answer whenever the brief is "it must not feel like a portable toilet".
What restroom trailer rental costs
The industry quotes $800 to $3,500 a month for restroom trailers, before delivery. That range is wide because it spans station count: roughly $800 to $1,500 for a two-station trailer and $1,500 to $3,500 for four stations or more. That is the trade's own reference range rather than a figure we measured, because too few operators publish a trailer rate to work one out and the handful who do disagree by more than tenfold. Treat it as the shape of the number, then get two quotes and ask what each unit holds. Delivery is usually $50 to $150 on top and is priced off the distance from the yard to your site, rather than from you to them. How we separate measured figures from the trade's reference ranges is set out on the methodology page. Two calls will still beat any national figure. Every unit type priced side by side.
What to ask before you book restroom trailers
- What does it need on site: power, a water hookup, or is it fully self-contained?
- What is the towing access like, and can your truck reach the spot I want?
- Is an attendant included or available, and what does that cost?
- How level does the ground need to be, and do you bring levelling blocks?
Worth settling before you book. Access, not price, is what kills a trailer booking. A trailer that cannot be reversed into place is no use at any rate, and the site visit that catches it is worth more than the quote that skips it.
Where restroom trailers are easy to find, and where they are not
Coverage is not even. In Louisiana, 85% of the independent companies we checked name restroom trailers on their own website. In Montana it is 38%. In a thin market that is one or two yards inside driving distance, and on a summer weekend they are committed early. See coverage across every state.
How many restroom trailers do you need?
For an event the starting point is one unit per 50 guests over four hours, from the ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 guidance, with more added for longer days and where alcohol is served. On a job site it is law rather than guidance: 29 CFR 1926.51(c) sets one toilet for up to 20 workers. Work it out for your headcount.

Questions about restroom trailers
- How much does trailer rental cost?
- The trade's own reference range is $800 to $3,500 a month, plus $50 to $150 delivery. Too few operators publish a rate for us to measure one, so that is an industry figure rather than ours. They are priced per station, so call two yards and ask what each trailer holds before comparing.

- What is included in trailer rental?
- Delivery, collection and servicing on the agreed schedule. Access, not price, is what kills a trailer booking. A trailer that cannot be reversed into place is no use at any rate, and the site visit that catches it is worth more than the quote that skips it.
