What a flushing unit is

A flushing unit has a foot-pump flush and a small freshwater sink built into the cabin, fed from a tank in the base. It is the same footprint as a standard unit and rentals from the same yards; what you are paying for is water at the point of use.

Who rents flushing units

Weddings, corporate events, and anywhere guests are dressed up. It is the usual step up when a standard unit reads as too rough for the occasion but a restroom trailer is out of budget.

What flushing unit rental costs

Measured rates for flushing units run $349 to $424 a week (8 companies), before delivery. Delivery is usually $50 to $150 on top and is priced off the distance from the yard to your site, rather than from you to them. Those counts are companies, not quotes, and they are small on purpose: they are every operator we found publishing a rate at all, which is the point made on the methodology page. Two calls will still beat any national figure. Every unit type priced side by side.

What to ask before you book flushing units

  1. How many uses does the freshwater tank cover before it needs a refill?
  2. Is a mid-event service included if the day runs long?
  3. Does the sink have soap and towels stocked, or is that separate?
  4. Can it be sited away from the main tent and still be found after dark?

Worth settling before you book. Tank capacity is the limit, not the seat. A flushing unit at a long event can run its water out well before the day ends, which is why a separate hand-wash station is often the cheaper fix than upgrading every unit.

Where flushing units are easy to find, and where they are not

Coverage is not even. In Florida, 72% of the independent companies we checked name flushing units on their own website. In Missouri it is 24%. In a thin market that is one or two yards inside driving distance, and on a summer weekend they are committed early. See coverage across every state.

How many flushing units do you need?

For an event the starting point is one unit per 50 guests over four hours, from the ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 guidance, with more added for longer days and where alcohol is served. On a job site it is law rather than guidance: 29 CFR 1926.51(c) sets one toilet for up to 20 workers. Work it out for your headcount.

Questions about flushing units

How much does flushing rental cost?
$349 to $424 a week (8 companies), plus $50 to $150 delivery. Those are measured from the operators who publish a rate, which is a small minority of the trade, so call two yards and compare what each includes.

Delivery, collection and servicing on the agreed schedule. Tank capacity is the limit, not the seat. A flushing unit at a long event can run its water out well before the day ends, which is why a separate hand-wash station is often the cheaper fix than upgrading every unit.
