What a shower trailer is

A shower trailer is a towed unit of individual shower stalls with on-demand hot water, changing space and drainage to a gray water tank. It usually needs a water supply and power, though some units carry their own tanks and a generator.

Who rents shower trailers

Disaster response, wildfire and storm crews, long remote construction, film productions on location, and multi-day festivals with campers. Anywhere people are staying rather than visiting.

What shower trailer rental costs

Too few operators publish a rate for shower trailers for anyone to give a useful range, ourselves included. They are priced by the number of stations, so ask what the unit holds before you compare anything. Delivery is usually $50 to $150 on top and is priced off the distance from the yard to your site, rather than from you to them. How we separate measured figures from the trade's reference ranges is set out on the methodology page. Two calls will still beat any national figure. Every unit type priced side by side.

What to ask before you book shower trailers

  1. Is hot water on demand, and how many consecutive showers before it drops?
  2. What does it need on site: water supply, power, or is it self-contained?
  3. How is gray water handled, and how often does it need emptying?
  4. What is the turnaround if it is needed at short notice for an emergency deployment?

Worth settling before you book. Availability, not cost, is the constraint. Shower trailers are the rarest thing in this trade, and in an emergency the yards that hold them are committed within hours, which is why the number worth knowing is who has one before you need it.

Where shower trailers are easy to find, and where they are not

Coverage is not even. In Louisiana, 35% of the independent companies we checked name shower trailers on their own website. In Idaho it is 0%. In a thin market that is one or two yards inside driving distance, and on a summer weekend they are committed early. See coverage across every state.

How many shower trailers do you need?

For an event the starting point is one unit per 50 guests over four hours, from the ANSI/PSAI Z4.3 guidance, with more added for longer days and where alcohol is served. On a job site it is law rather than guidance: 29 CFR 1926.51(c) sets one toilet for up to 20 workers. Work it out for your headcount.
