The working figure is one unit per 50 guests over four hours, from ANSI/PSAI Z4.3. Add 15 to 20% where alcohol is served, and go up with duration. Worked through for a typical wedding: 150 guests over 6 hours comes to 4 units, or 5 with drinks served, of which at least 1 should be accessible.
Weddings run long and the drinks start early, so the ratio that covers a four-hour daytime event will not cover a reception. Count everyone who will be on the property, not the RSVP list: the band, the caterers, the photographer and the venue staff all use the same door.
What a wedding costs to cover

Where to put them
Site the trailer where guests can reach it without crossing the dance floor or walking through the catering line, on ground firm enough that heels do not sink. Screening it with hedging or a tent wall matters more here than anywhere else, and so does lighting the path once the sun goes down.
When to book
Trailers are the scarcest thing any yard owns and summer Saturdays are the busiest date in the calendar. Call about the trailer before the venue deposit is non-refundable, not after.
Wedding: what catches people out
Book the trailer before the date is final. More than half the independents we read list one, but a summer Saturday is the date every other couple wants too.
Trailers need a level pad, a power feed and in most cases a water connection, and the yard will want to know all three before it quotes. A venue that hosts weddings regularly usually has a spot it puts them; a private property usually does not, and that is the conversation worth having early. Where a trailer will not fit or will not reach, a flushing unit with a sink is the step down that still reads as a proper restroom rather than a job-site cabin.
What to ask the company
What is the trailer rated for, does it need power or water, and can you get it onto the ground we have? Ask all three of two or three companies and the quotes stop being comparable on price alone, which is the point.
